ABOUT POSSESSED...

Based on the true account of a 1949 Catholic church-sanctioned exorcism performed in America, POSSESSED tells a story that was suppressed for nearly half a century. The film was directed by Steven E. de Souza from a screenplay by Michael Lazarou and de Souza. POSSESSED is adapted from the book Possessed: The True Story of an Exorcism, written by Thomas B. Allen.

Emily Eakin , of the Brill’s Content said of the film, “ Possessed’ is cable television’s ‘The Crucible’, and Steven de Souza its Arthur Miller. ” Barbara D. Phillips , of The Wall Street Journal notes that, “ While the premise will be familiar to fans of “The Exorcist”… The visually handsome film, directed by Steven E. de Souza works remarkably well on its own, more restrained terms… ” And John Kock, of The Boston Globe , remarks that, “‘ Possessed’ is written with intelligence, and cleverly, thoughtfully, directed. Director and co-writer Steven de Souza pumps up the tension smoothly but dramatically … ”
